CS Information Seminar 2008
More than 150 secondary school students
came to CityU during our CS Information Seminar on May 21, 2008 to learn about
BSCCS programme (JUPAS code: 1561). Our final year student Jessica Poon gave
a presentation about "Introduction to 3D Motion Capture Technology" to the
visiting students. She started by showing a video clip about the production of
the movie Lord of the Ring that made use of the 3D motion capture technology.
Then she introduced about the facilities in our
3D Motion Capture
Laboratory. Next she showed the video and animation that were recorded at
the Science and Engineering Fun Day 2007.
Afterwards she showed the TVB interview
of our CS graduate student Jacky Chan about his work on dance education system.
After explaining how our dance data was captured from professional dancers,
Jessica showed an interview with Jacky and inquired about his
second grade award during the 2007 Amway
Pan-Pearl River Delta Region Universities IT Project Competition and his
Bronze Award in the category of Best Innovation
& Research (College & Undergraduates) Award in the Hong Kong ICT Award. Then
Jessica introduced about her own final year project that was an extension of
Jacky's dance education system. Finally she shared with the students about her
experience during her 4 years in the CityU BSCCS programme.
